Samsung CFG70: 144Hz 24/27-inch FreeSync/G-Sync TN Gaming Monitor

Samsung CFG70

The Samsung CFG70 is the company’s first hardcore gaming monitor and will be available in both 24 inches and 27 inches. The 144Hz monitor will have a curved display with a curvature of 1800R. The company is utilizing a TN panel which brings with it a 1ms response time. The 24 inch version will be equipped with AMD FreeSync while the 27 inch version will have NVIDIA G-Sync.

What resolution either would be using was not specified so we don’t know the pixel densities. We typically see 24 inch monitors have a 1080p (1920 x 1080) resolution and 27 inch monitors have a 1440p (2560 x 1400) resolution.

Both monitors will use quantum dot technology to achieve 125% sRGB allowing for incredibly vivid and clear color reproduction. A neat feature is the LED lighting at the bottom side of the Samsung CFG70 that interacts with the sound in your gameplay.

The monitors’ on-screen display (OSD) settings are controlled by a unique 5-way jog key on the back. The OSD was specifically tailored to gaming and it has immediately clear information on the black equalizer, response time, refresh rate, adaptive sync, and input lag. On the bottom right of the monitor are three buttons that allow you to easily switch setting profiles.

The durable aluminum frame and stand enable you to adjust its height, tilt, and swivel.

The monitors will be released this year, but Samsung has not given a precise date nor price. We’ll be sure to get our hands on both and see if they make it in our best gaming monitor buyer’s guide.
