Lenovo Y27f: 144Hz 27-inch FreeSync VA Curved Gaming Monitor

The Lenovo Y27f is the company’s second 144Hz gaming monitor in the market. It comes after the Lenovo Y27g that was revealed at CES 2016 and which sports NVIDIA’s G-Sync instead of AMD’s FreeSync.

In terms of other specifications the two are nearly identical aside from adaptive sync technology. Both utilize a VA panel, a technology far less commonly used than IPS or TN panels, that will provide you with very good contrast (a ratio of 3000:1 to be precise) and image depth. This 27 inch monitor has a 1920 x 1080 resolution meaning it has a 82 pixels per inch pixel density which is much lower than other 27 inch monitors out there that typically have a 2560 x 1440 resolution and as a result a 109 pixels per inch pixel density. The Lenovo Y27f, like the Y27g, is indeed also a curved monitor and it has a R1800 curvature which is in line with most curved displays out there.

Lenovo Y27f back

Aesthetically speaking, the Lenovo Y27f is very sleek looking with a unique pointed stand that is unlike any out there and one that has very rigid monitor support while still offering great tilt, height, and swivel adjustability. The stand has markings that conveniently and quickly let you set the monitor to your preferred settings – a very useful feature if you visit many LAN parties or plan on sharing the monitor. If the included stand is not in-line with your liking or you want a multi monitor setup then you can easily use a VESA stand as the monitor is compatible with it. Complimenting this monitor is a carbon fiber type pattern on the lower back which gives it a gamer enthusiast vibe to it. On the left side is a retractable hook for your headphones that you can use at your convenience and put away whenever necessary.

There are two options for graphical inputs: a HDMI 1.4 input and a DisplayPort 1.2 input. The monitor has a USB 3.0 hub which includes BC 1.2, meaning that charging mobile devices will be super quick. Included with the Lenovo Y27f is of course a power cable, but also HDMI, DisplayPort, and USB cables as well. The Lenovo Y27f comes at about 30% cheaper than its G-Sync counterpart and almost 50% cheaper than the Lenovo Y27g RE, a version equipped with Razer LED Chroma lighting.
