ASUS continues to innovate in the gaming notebooks and displays field. The manufacturer has revealed that it will begin offering users the ability to upgrade their new Republic of Gamers laptops to a display panel that is capable of a 120Hz refresh rate. The panels that ASUS is using are AU Optronics’ Advanced Hyper-Viewing Angle (AHVA) panels which provide the user with great wide viewing angles, incredibly low input lag, and color reproduction near that of an IPS panel. Further sweetening the deal is the inclusion of NVIDIA’s G-Sync adaptive sync technology that will ensure a smooth gaming experience free of stuttering and jittering.
The new 120Hz AHVA panels will be included as an option on the up and coming 15” and 17” ROG and ROG Strix gaming laptops. The notebooks will also include other high-end specs that you’d see in a great gaming PC including Intel Core i7 or i5 processors and NVIDIA GeForce GTX graphics cards. At the moment these 120Hz capable laptops are prototypes and it’s unknown exactly which ROG model laptops will be able to be equipped with the AHVA display panels. ASUS will be demonstrating these new 120Hz display panels at Computex 2016. There is no word yet on the availability or pricing of these new laptops.
