Acer has released another 144Hz monitor: the Acer XF270HU. This 27 inch monitor has a 2560 x 1440 (WQHD) resolution and has AMD FreeSync technology included in it. Couple this with the fact that AMD has just updated its GPU drivers to support Low Framerate Compensation for FreeSync connected monitors and you’re looking at a great gaming experience.
The 144Hz monitor advertises the typical 4ms response time that IPS panels flaunt. Likewise, it also claims to have the typical 1000:1 contrast ratio and 350 cd/m² rated maximum brightness level that other monitors in this area have. In addition to this, the monitor is equipped with matte TFT display that is flicker-free and low dimming. Also included is Acer’s Blue Light Filter and trust us, if you’re viewing a gaming monitor for many hours your eyes will thank you for this feature.
The Acer XF270HU is about two hundred dollars cheaper than its G-Sync equipped cousin, the Acer XB270HU. Both are 144Hz monitors, but the XB270HU suffers from the price hike due to the licensing and hardware module fees involved with G-Sync. The XF270HU is clearly a more economical version for shoppers with a tighter budget.
The monitor’s space saving adjustable stand, high viewing angles due to the IPS panel, and slim bezel allow for you to have a great multiple gaming monitor setup. This monitor allows you to tilt it, adjust its height, and rotate it as you please. Connection ports include a DVI port, an HDMI port, a DisplayPort, and four USB 3.0 ports. Note that while both the HDMI and DisplayPort inputs will allow you to take advantage of the 144Hz refresh rate only the DisplayPort will let you take advantage of FreeSync. Also included are two 2W speakers allowing for a headphone-free experience if feel you like it.
