The Acer XB240H is a part of the premium XB gaming monitor series. It is a 24 inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) gaming monitor with a 144Hz refresh rate. At this size and resolution you’re getting a pixel density of 92 pixels per inch which is typically what gaming monitors at this size have. It has a TN panel that provides a low response time of 1ms, color support for 16.7 million colors, and LED backlight technology. It also has a brightness of 350 cd/m² and a static contrast ratio of 1000:1 which are standard with TN panels.
The Acer XB240H has NVIDIA’s G-Sync technology built into it which ensures the smoothest gaming experience possible. It does this by synchronizing the refresh rate of the screen and the frame rate of the graphics card, thereby removing screen tearing and minimizing input lag and display stutter. The G-Sync feature requires a compatible NVIDIA graphics card in order to function and you must also have the ability to use DisplayPort 1.2. So before buying this monitor you need to make sure that you will be able to use the G-Sync technology with your current graphics card.
The monitor also features NVIDIA 3D Vision 2 and NVIDIA 3D LightBoost technology, which makes the screen brighter for better 3D gaming and video viewing. The only thing that you need to get, in order to experience the immersive 3D technology, are NVIDIA 3D Vision 2 glasses. The XB240H also has Flicker-less technology which removes screen flickering and provides better viewing experience for heavy users. Other features that should also reduce eye strain are low dimming and ComfyView technology.
The video inputs that this monitor has are a DisplayPort, VGA, DVI and mini HDMI port, but you will want to use DisplayPort in order to use the G-Sync technology. The included cables that you get with the monitor are VGA, DVI, DisplayPort and a power cord. Sadly the monitor has no USB ports, but it does have two 2-watt integrated speakers. On the lower right side of the monitor, you will find six buttons, one to turn on the screen and other five to navigate through the OSD menu to change settings. You can switch to different picture modes like Eco, Standard, Movie, Graphics and User Profile, which you set up to your personal preference. One special setting that you can set is an overdrive setting that helps limit the motion blur.
The included stand offers a nice amount of adjustability as you can tilt, swivel, rotate and adjust the height of the screen. With the rotate option you could also use the monitor in portrait multi-monitor setup, the only thing that limits this are the poor viewing angles caused by the TN panel. The monitor is also VESA compatible so you can easily use a third party monitor arm if you wish.
